Make-A-Wish Western New York has had a long running association with the Shooting Starz charity softball tournament; a tournament that helps to provide wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish and Shooting Starz have combined forces for many years to benefit wish children.

Bill Hader is the best. There’s no question about it, and because he’s the best, he made one girl’s dream come true by dressing up as a firefighter and pranking her classmates as part of Make-A-Wish.

Mariana Maniscalco's personal story is one of hope, determination, and strength. She's sharing her experiences and a positive message in her new book that was published thanks to Make-A-Wish. Maniscalco's health problems began two years ago when she was just 14. She battled what she thought was the flu. It turns out that was just the beginning of a domino effect of issues.

"An Evening Of Wishes" Gala was held to honor the wishes granted in 2014. The night's featured guest was former wish recipient Dallas, whose wish "to put her poetry to music and to record in a professional studio" was granted over five years ago. There were also silent and live auctions, dinner and live music, with all funds raised benefiting the Greater Buffalo community. 146 wishes were granted in 2014 and Make-A-Wish is hoping for a little help to make 2015 as successful.

Six years ago, Dallas was fighting cancer and had her wish granted by Make-A-Wish. She wanted to be a singer-songwriter and record an album.
Pace recorded a CD of her original songs at the Buffalo studio of the rock band The Goo Goo Dolls. That led to auditions for NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and opening a concert for Blood Sweat and Tears. Pace is now 18 and has been cancer-free for nearly six years. She was invited to be the honored guest at Make-A-Wish Western New York’s fundraising galas.

Make-A-Wish Western New York was featured in the "Let Love In" commercial during Super Bowl 2015. The commercial features wish children Lauren, Tony, Ajianaye and Annabelle from the Greater Buffalo area.

Austin wished to meet the Buffalo Sabres and his wish came true on December 20th at First Niagara Center. It included meeting the hockey players, going to the locker room for a special surprise, and dropping the puck on the ice.

A 6-year-old girl from Derby who is battling a rare and aggressive brain tumor had quite an afternoon at the Walden Galleria. Make-A-Wish prepared a grand surprise, complete with her friends and a suitcase ready for a trip to Hawaii, thanks to Macy's and the Believe Campaign.

The walk, which benefits Make-A-Wish Western New York, attracted dozens of community members, wish families and supporters who gathered Sept. 27 at Riverfront Centennial Park and Centerway Square in Corning. "This has been such a joyful day filled with much inspiration," Mary Jones, Make-A-Wish Regional Development Director, stated in a news release. "We are in awe of the community's participation and support, and as always, look forward to next year."
