Tykem, 17, his mom, grandma and little sister jetted off to L.A. recently to make a dream come true.
The teen is a huge basketball fan and while he loves watching the game, he can’t play it anymore because of the serious cardiac condition he lives with. His one true wish, as he told his Make-A-Wish volunteers, was to meet superstar Kobe Bryant, his all-time favorite player.
A limousine whisked the teen and his family down to Newport Beach to meet his hero. There were two other wish families present that day and they all bonded over their nervous excitement.
When Kobe walked into the room, Tykem froze! He and the other teens were nervous at first but Kobe put them all at ease, chatting and laughing with them, signing the items they brought and taking lots of photos. He even gifted each wish child with a signed pair of Kobe AD sneakers.
Tykem and his family are so grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. His mom says that the excitement and emotion of that day will be remembered forever.
