The Medical Advisory Council (MAC) of Make-A-Wish Metro and Western New York ensure that every qualified child in the chapter territory knows about the Foundation's services by educating the medical professionals and family support groups that serve families throughout the territory. It is comprised of a select group of medical professionals from across our three regions - Buffalo, Metro New York (NYC and Nassau County) and Rochester - and staff liaison is a Medical Outreach Associate.
Additionally, the Medical Advisory Council will use their expertise in pediatric medicine to consult in the evaluation of cases in which chapter staff deem it necessary to require clinical feedback as to the safety and/or viability of a child’s wish.
- Licensed Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O) – Pediatric Specialists preferred
- Familiar with the Make-A-Wish mission, vision and wish-granting program.
- Understanding of the dynamics of the medical community and families served.
