Walk for Wishes Brings in Dollars and Spreads Joy

The walk, which benefits Make-A-Wish Western New York, attracted dozens of community members, wish families and supporters who gathered Sept. 27 at Riverfront Centennial Park and Centerway Square in Corning. "This has been such a joyful day filled with much inspiration," Mary Jones, Make-A-Wish Regional Development Director, stated in a news release. "We are in awe of the community's participation and support, and as always, look forward to next year."

Make-A-Wish Celebrates 2500th Wish


The 20th Anniversary Radio-Thon wasn’t the only milestone Make-A-Wish celebrated at the event this year. Make-A-Wish Western New York also marked the granting of its 2,500th wish, which went to a stroke survivor named Mariana. Mariana wished to publish her own book about her experience living with a medical hardship, with the hope that it would inspire other sick children in their fight to get better.

A young Albany boy had a wish to come to a tailgate party at a Buffalo Bills game when the company that owned Norton’s station was broadcasting the team’s games. The result was the annual Make-A-Wish Western New York Radio-Thon on 97Rock.
