Exciting news! On September 1, 2011, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York joined forces with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western New York and became one chapter under the new name Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and Western New York.
This re-alignment brings together the two largest chapters in the state of New York, who collectively fulfill two-thirds of the wishes statewide. Our chapter will serve eligible children in the combined area of 23 counties with chapter office locations in Lake Success, Manhattan, Buffalo and Rochester. Back-office services such as IT, accounting and payroll will now be shared, while wishgranting, volunteer assignments, and fundraising will continue to be handled by local staff.
We are excited to be able to eliminate redundancies in back-office operations and to share best practices to deliver more wishes efficiently and effectively at the highest level of excellence. We believe that everyone - from the children we serve to our loyal volunteers and supporters - will benefit from our new organization. We look forward to your continued support as we build an organization that’s capable of granting even more wishes.
