Wish Granting Volunteer
As a Wish-Granting Volunteer, you will experience the magic that occurs when a child is permitted to dream. Wish-Granting Volunteers are paired up in teams of two to interview children to determine their heartfelt wish. You will assist in the granting of each wish with Make-A-Wish® staff and your volunteer partner.
If you love meeting new people and public speaking, this is the volunteer role for you! You can help make wishes come true by introducing the public to Make-A-Wish and the work that we do. Whether it’s a ten minute talk to a local club, a check presentation to a group of school children, or manning a table at a workplace-giving fair; you can be the face and voice of Make-A-Wish.
Special Events Volunteer
Special events volunteers support signature Make-A-Wish fundraising events. Volunteers support Make-A-Wish Annual Galas, Walk for Wishes, Radiothon, Wine and Wishes, golf tournaments, etc. Volunteering at a special event provides an inside look into the fundraising side of the foundation. Volunteers typically need evening or weekend availability for this role.
Medical Outreach Volunteer
If you enjoy teaching and are familiar with medical terminology, then the Medical Outreach Volunteer role might be right for you! Medical Outreach Volunteers explain medical eligibility requirements, increase referrals, and educate on the misconceptions of Make-A-Wish to the medical community.
Periodically, we are in need of volunteers that are able to assist with office duties, administrative tasks, and special projects in our Buffalo office.
Translators will assist in communicating with our wish families who speak a language other than English.
Recruiters support Make-A-Wish staff in executing volunteer engagement and recruitment campaigns and conducting community outreach efforts at career fairs, professional/civic events, conferences and volunteer fairs.
